"Wisdom In Loving and Loss"

Welcome to my little corner of a great big web...

I would hope that in reading this page all might find serenity in their day and love to fill the emptiness in the soul...
God never intended that we should spend life lost or alone, even though there may be times that we would feel it was His wish for us.

Always know that wherever God closes a door He always opens a window...
This page as all others in a fast growing collection is a compilation of the works and gentle feelings of one with an incredibly delicate spirit... But one though whose spirit may be delicate also holds immense strength and wisdom within her gentle soul...

"Memo from God"

I am God. Today I will be handling all of your problems.
Please remember that I do not need your help.
If life happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do not attempt to resolve it.
Kindly put it in the SFGTD (something for God to do) box.
It will be addressed in My time, not yours.
Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold on to it or remove it. Holding on or removal will delay the resolution of your problem.
If it is a situation that you think you are capable of handling, please consult me in prayer to be sure that it is the proper resolution.
Because I do not sleep nor do I slumber, there is no need for you to lose any sleep. Rest my child. If you need to contact me, I am only a prayer away.

"Be happy with what you have"

Should you find it hard to get to sleep tonight; Just remember the homeless family who has no bed to lie in.
Should you find yourself stuck in traffic; Don't despair. There are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard of privilege.
Should you have a bad day at work; Think of the man who has been out of work for years.
Should you despair over a relationship gone bad; Think of the person who has never known what it's like to love and be loved in return.
Should you grieve the passing of another weekend; Think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day, seven days a week to feed her children.
Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance; Think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk.
Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror; Think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to examine.
Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering what is life all about, asking "what is my purpose?";
Be thankful. There are those who didn't live long enough to get the opportunity.
Should you find yourself the victim of other people's bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities; Remember, things could be worse. You could be them!!!!

"The Beauty of Love"

The question is asked,
Is there anything more beautiful in life
than a boy and a girl clasping clean hands and pure hearts in the path of marriage?

Can there be anything more beautiful than young love?
And the answer is given.

Yes, there is a more beautiful thing.
It is the spectacle of an old man and an old woman
finishing their journey together on that path.
Their hands are gnarled, but still clasped; their faces are seamed, but still radiant; their hearts are physically bowed and tired, but still strong with love and devotion for one another...

Yes, there is a more beautiful thing than young love. Old love.

"Love"

Love is something to share with a wonderful person.
And once it's there, you've got to make it last.
Love isn't something to be taken for granted.
It's something to be nurtured and cared for and caressed.
Love can last forever...if you want it to.
Love isn't tough and tentative;
It's wonderful and gentle and tender.
Love is mysterious, but it asks that you keep no secrets.
Love is blind, but it asks that you see how happy it can make you.
Love is more like a flower than a tree;
The wrong things can hurt it so easily.
But the right things can make it more beautiful than anything else
Your life has ever known.
Love is something to be treated as the best of all blessings,
And as your own little miracle that will keep coming true.....
As long as you want it to.

Dear Heavenly Father…

Make me a better parent.
Teach me to understand my children, to listen patiently to what they have to say and to answer all their questions kindly.

Keep me from interrupting them, talking back to them, and contradicting them.
Make me as courteous to them as I would have them be to me. Give me the courage to confess my sins against my children and to ask of them forgiveness when I know that I have done them wrong.

May not I vainly hurt the feelings of my children.
Forbid that I should laugh at their mistakes or resort to shame and ridicule as punishment.
Let me not tempt my child to lie and steal.
So guide me hour by hour that I may demonstrate by all I say and do that honesty produces happiness.

Reduce, I pray, the meanness in me.
May I cease to nag; and when I am out of sorts, help me, O Lord, to hold my tongue.
Blind me to the little errors of my children, and help me to see the good things that they do.

Give me a ready word to honest praise.
Help me to grow up with my children, to treat them as those of their own age, but let me not expect of them the judgments and conventions of adults.

Allow me not to rob them of the opportunity to wait upon themselves, to think, to choose and to make decisions.
Forbid that I should ever punish them for my selfish satisfaction.

May I grant them all their wishes that are reasonable and have the courage always to withhold a privilege which I know will do them harm.

Make me so fair and just, so considerate and companionable to my children that they will have a genuine esteem for me.

Fit me to be loved and imitated by my children.

Amen

"Priceless Things"

Life holds so many priceless things
The falling rain--the wind that sings
Each star on a high--a big full moon
And sunbeams dancing in your room
The river as it rushes on
A sunset when day is gone
No wealth can buy a mountain tall
These priceless things belong to all
An autumn tree lends beauty rare
With leaves piled deep most everywhere
As nature wears a glowing smile
To make each day a day worthwhile
Could anything be quite as dear
As laughing children that we hear
The joy of friendship that is ours
The miracle of growing flowers
Each magic moment--treasured time
These priceless joys are
yours and mine...

"Don't Take Her For Granted"

When you came into the world, she held you in her arms.
You thanked her by wailing like a banshee.
When you were 1 year old, she fed you and bathed you.
You thanked her by crying all night long.
When you were 2 years old, she taught you to walk.
You thanked her by running away when she called.
When you were 3 years old, she made all your meals with love.
You thanked her by tossing your plate on the floor.
When you were 4 years old, she gave you some crayons
You thanked her by coloring the dining room table.
When you were 5 years old, she dressed you for the holidays.
You thanked her by plopping into the nearest pile of mud
When you were 6 years old, she walked you to school.
You thanked her by screaming; "I'M NOT GOING!"
When you were 7 years old, she bought you a baseball.
You thanked her by throwing it through the next-door-neighbor's window.
When you were 8 years old, she handed you an ice cream.
You thanked her by dripping it all over your lap.
When you were 9 years old, she paid for piano lessons.
You thanked her by never even bothering to practice.
When you were 10 years old, she drove you all day, from soccer to gymnastics to one birthday party after another.
You thanked her by jumping out of the car and never looking back.
When you were 11 years old, she took you and your friends to the movies.
You thanked her by asking to sit in a different row.
When you were 12 years old, she warned you not to watch certain TV shows.
You thanked her by waiting until she left the house.

Those teenage years

When you were 13, she suggested a haircut that was becoming.
You thanked her by telling her she had no taste.
When you were 14, she paid for a month away at summer camp.
You thanked her by forgetting to write a single letter.
When you were 15, she came home from work, looking for a hug.
You thanked her by having your bedroom door locked.
When you were 16, she taught you how to driver her car.
You thanked her by taking it every chance you could.
When you were 17, she was expecting an important call.
You thanked her by being on the phone all night.
When you were 18, she cried at your high school graduation.
You thanked her by staying out partying until dawn.

Growing old and gray

When you were 19, she paid your college tuition, drove you to campus, carried your bags.
You thanked her by saying good-bye outside the dorm so you wouldn't be embarrassed in front of your friends.
When you were 20, she asked whether you were seeing anyone.
You thanked her by saying, "It's none of your business."< br> When you were 21, she suggested certain careers for your future.
You thanked her by saying, "I don't want to be like you"
When you were 22, she hugged you at your college graduation.
You thanked her by asking whether she could pay for a trip to Europe.
When you were 23, she gave you furniture for your first apartment.
You thanked her by telling your friends it was ugly.
When you were 24, she met your fiancee and asked about your plans for the future.
You thanked her by glaring and growling, "Muuhh-ther, please!
When you were 25, she helped to pay for your wedding,
and she cried and told you how deeply she loved you.
You thanked her by moving halfway across the country.
When you were 30, she called with some advice on the baby.
You thanked her by telling her; "Things are different now"
When you were 40, she called to remind you of a relative's birthday.
You thanked her by saying you were "really busy right now"
When you were 50, she fell ill and needed you to take care of her.
You thanked her by reading about the burden parents become to their children.

Then, one day, she quietly died. And everything you never did came crashing down like thunder. "Rock me baby, rock me all night long. The hand who rocks the cradle...may rock the world".

Let us take a moment of the time just to pay tribute to the person called MOM though some may not say it openly to their mother. There's no substitute for her. Cherish every single moment. Though at times she may not be the best of friends, may not agree to our thoughts, she is still your mother! She will be there for you...to listen to your woes, your bragging, your frustrations, etc. Ask yourself...
Have you put aside enough time for her, to listen to her blues of working in the kitchen, her tiredness? Be tactful, loving and still show her due respect though you may have a different view from hers. Once gone, only fond memories of the past and regrets will be left.

"Gentle Thoughts of the Heart"

Decide to Be Married

Decide to be married
To become one heart, one body, one mind and one soul
To share your joy
To live life as an art
And to make every moment precious
Whether together or apart.

Remember as a couple
You are now more than one
To create harmony and perfect love
That will last through eternity even after this life is done.

Remember also there is a power
In this union of two to protect this planet
And humanity too
As a couple you can do it.

It's in the deciding
To be united in love
To Express your joyful oneness
To every person you meet, and
In every action you take
And together a perfect marriage you'll make.

"You Still Have Hope"

If you can look at the sunset and smile, then you still have hope.
If you can find beauty in the colors of a small flower, then you still have hope.
If you can find pleasure in the movement of a butterfly, then you still have hope.
If the smile of a child can still warm your heart, then you still have hope.
If you can see the good in other people, then you still have hope.
If the rain breaking on a roof top can still lull you to sleep, then you still have hope.
If the sight of a rainbow still makes you stop and stare in wonder, then you still have hope.
If the soft fur of a favored pet still feels pleasant under your fingertips, then you still have hope.
If you meet new people with a trace of excitement and optimism, then you still have hope.
If you give people the benefit of a doubt, then you still have hope.
If you still offer your hand in friendship to others that have touched your life, then you still have hope.
If receiving an unexpected card or letter still brings a pleasant surprise, then you still have hope.
If the suffering of others still fills you with pain and frustration, then you still have hope.
If you refuse to let a friendship die, or accept that it must end, then you still have hope.
If you look forward to a time or place of quiet and reflection, then you still have hope.
If you still buy the ornaments, put up the Christmas tree or cook the turkey, then you still have hope.
If you still watch love stories or want the endings to be happy, then you still have hope.
If you can look to the past and smile, then you still have hope.
If, when faced with the bad, when told everything is futile, you can still look up and end the conversation with the phrase..."yeah....BUT" then you still have hope
Hope is such a marvelous thing.
It bends, it twists, it sometimes hides, but rarely does it break.
It sustains us when nothing else can.
It gives us reason to continue and courage to move ahead, when we tell ourselves we'd rather give in.
Hope puts a smile on our face when the heart cannot manage. Hope puts our feet on the path when our eyes cannot see it. Hope moves us to act when our souls are confused of the direction.
Hope is a wonderful thing, something to be cherished and nurtured, and something that will refresh us in return. And it can be found in each of us, and it can bring light into the darkest of places…

Never lose hope

Welcome Home My Child My son;
Your work on earth has been well done.
You have been a witness to many that you loved Me.
You shared the word no matter what the need be.
You spoke of Me often to family and friends;
And you showed how faith can strengthen and often mends.
You did your best to always give glory to Me;
And for this; you will live eternally.
And now the time has come for you to rest;
I'm taking you home as My special guest.
Welcome Home
My daughter; My child; My son;
Your work on earth has been well done

"A Purpose"

We all have some kind of purpose on this earth,
It's not to hurt people or tell them their worth.
Everyone was put here with an equal chance,
Take a look around you, take a good long glance.
Some were meant to heal, and some to teach,
Some are used to build, and some to reach.
You may not know your purpose just yet,
God will tell you, when he knows you are set.
Don't rush your fate, it has already been planned.
And God will always be there to lend a helping hand.
You will go through times that are really rough,
But you will always have someone, when the going gets tough.
Don't judge others, for when you do,
There is always someone else, judging you.
Think about things before they are said,
Say your prayers before going off to bed.
Take time just to sit, and observe all things,
A flower and it's petals, or a bird and it's wings.
For when you just look at what is around,
A new aspect on life could be what you have found.
Live for today, live one day at a time.
Live for yourself, and for God, that's no crime.
For when you do all these things to make your life great,
You will find your own way to the pearly white gate.

"Dreams Still Do Come True"

Dreams still do come true... without dreams, nowhere would we be.
Do you believe me?
To see yourself in someone's eyes, so clear and true it makes you cry, is the most wondrous thing I think.
To captivate someone's soul, to fill what's missing and make it whole
is the most beautiful thing I think.
"You jump, I jump" and away we'll go, to place only you and I know.
A Gal would say, "this cannot be!" but what two have built, one cannot see.
One tells the other," trust me so" and I promise I won't let you go.
Look into my eyes and see, "my life, my world" you mean to me.
I'll stand this bow till dying day, if you promise you won't fly away.
I'll save you and you'll save me, and forever we'll sail across the sea.
I'll press you close and hold you dear as the world around us disappears.
I'll admit a love this pure is rare, and won't be found just anywhere...
but she'll come to me in my dreams... and I'll again believe.

"You Must Try Again"

Life is a long and bumpy road.
We each carry our troubles, like a heavy load.
There are many hard turns and some dead ends,
But whenever we're stuck, we must try again.
No one's got an easy ride,
But failure can be pushed aside.
When we give up hope nothing good can happen.
So, when all seems lost you must try again.
You can't have a meal, if you don't sit at a table.
You won't learn the moral, if you don't read the fable.
You can't take control, if you're plagued by inaction.
And you won't overcome loss if you don't try again.
When the coin's in the air, if you don't pick heads or tails,
Having not made a choice, you are bound to fail.
But if you choose and choose wrong, you can always still win,
Because on the next flip you can still try again.
Those who succeed seem to have it made,
Basking in the sunshine or lying in the shade.
But they've been down too and it was just then,
That they picked themselves up, so they could try again.
So, when your spirit is weak and you need to cry
And you want to be happy, but you have to sigh,
When things seem bleakest, that's the time when
You must shrug it all off and try, try again.
